Nnamdi Asomugha prepares antworten

Nnamdi Asomugha prepares for Larry Fitzgerald

This week, the Raiders' cornerback and the Cardinals' receiver probably spent more than that watching splicedtogether plays of the other as they get ready for one of the premier matchups in the NFL today.

"Anytime you get a chance to play against a fierce competitor, arguably the best at the position, it's going to perk your interest and make you want to be at your best," said Fitzgerald, who has gone against Asomugha only in the preseason and in the Pro Bowl. cheap nfl jerseys

Fitzgerald, a 6foot3, 218pounder, leads the NFL with 475 receptions since 2005, and though he is missing quarterback , he is still a "beast," in the words of Asomugha.

What makes Fitzgerald so good?

"Just being able to play big and small, regardless of his size," Asomugha said. "A lot of times you get guys that are as big as he is but can't move like or those type guys. He's got good hips and things like that, good breaks. All the stuff that a smaller guy can do he can do, and he's got the height and the size to do what the big guys do. That puts him in his own class."

Asomugha, 29, hasn't shadowed toptier receivers all over the field in the past, but there are indications he might do more of it today. The toughest thing about covering Fitzgerald is that he routinely brings down the ball in traffic.

"He's the first guy to get it," Asomugha said.

Fitzgerald, 27, is arguably the best receiver in the game, and Asomugha (62, 210) is arguably the best cornerback even though he doesn't have the stats to prove it. He has only one interception in each of the past three years, as opponents usually avoid throwing to his half of the field.

What makes Asomugha so good?

"The thing that you see on tape, for a man of his size, he has incredible hips and amazingly quick feet," Fitzgerald said. "That's just Godgiven ability to be that tall and be able to move and cut and drive on balls the way he's able to.

"And you can tell he's a student of the game because he really understands formations and tendencies of the receivers he's playing against on a weektoweek basis."

Injury notes

Raiders guard is out again with a hamstring injury. Defensive tackle (foot) is a gametime decision. Running back is expected to make his 2010 debut four weeks after thumb surgery. Cardinals guard (back) was a late add to the injury list and is questionable.
