Packers defense eager to play against Greg Jennings antworten

Hawk and Greg Jennings both came to Green Bay in 2006 and quickly became fast friends. Still, the defender in Hawk always wanted to get a shot on his pal playing wide receiver.

"I used to tell Greg all the time in practice, I would talk to him about coming across the middle," Hawk recalled. "I'd always joke with him that I was going to light him up one of these times. Now I can. It'll be fun."

Jennings spent seven years in Green Bay, ranks in the top 10 in franchise history in receptions and yards and was one of the Packers' heroes in Super Bowl XLV. But when Jennings became a free agent and signed a five year, $45 million deal with Minnesota this off season, the fun really began.

Jennings took several shots at Packer quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Rob Gronkowski Super Bowl 49 Jersey his former club.

Among the most pointed: "When you hear all positives, all positives, all positives all the time, it's hard for you to sit down when one of your teammates says, 'Man, come on, you've got to hold yourself accountable for Rob Gronkowski Super Bowl Jersey this.' It's hard for someone to see that now because all they've heard is I'm doing it the right way, I'm perfect. In actuality, we all have flaws."

Jennings refused to call Rodgers by name, referring to him only as "12." And he said Brett Favre was a better quarterback than Rodgers.

After Green Bay defeated Cleveland, 31 13, cornerback Sam Shields and Tramon Williams disagreed with some of Jennings' comments. But both did say that they're excited to face Jennings.

"It's going to be fun," Shields said. "Greg's a former player from here that I looked up to when I first came in. He's a hell of guy, hard to cover. Going against him again, it will be exciting."

"Obviously, you know there's going to be a little more to it because he left here this off season," he said. "But Greg is an excellent person, competitor. I've known him personally, so I'll be looking forward to it."

In recent years, several ex Packers have headed to Minnesota. Favre, of course, is the most notable, but the lengthy list includes Darren Sharper, Ryan Longwell, Desmond Bishop and Robert Ferguson.

Favre created a firestorm by signing with Minnesota. And many Packer fans still haven't forgiven him for donning purple.

Jennings' move to Minnesota certainly wasn't as controversial when he first signed. But his verbal jabs have added another layer to the rivalry.

"I don't think you should Tom Brady Super Bowl 49 Jersey ever say something negative about another player on the team like he said negative things about Aaron," Hawk said. "I don't think he can truly mean that, but I don't know?

"It's going to be a fun week preparing. Greg's a stud; he's a great player. Greg's a funny guy too, and it'll be weird seeing him on the other side. He's going to be trying to come at us, too, and we'll be ready."

For the most part, Jennings has done little in 2013. And the Packers probably don't mind that Jennings passed on their offer for $8 million per season.

Through six games, Jennings had 24 receptions, 327 yards and two touchdowns. Jennings had found the Tom Brady Super Bowl Jersey end zone in just one game and has yet to have a 100 yard receiving game.

Although Green Bay has been devastated by injury at the receiver position, the Packers still rank fourth in passing offense (300.0) and second in total offense (434.7), while the Vikings are in the bottom half of both categories.

Some players like Hawk said they're excited to talk to Jennings before Sunday night's game. But they also said they'll probably avoid discussing Jennings' comments and the blaze it created.

"Some guys take things differently," Williams said. "Maybe he had that on his mind that he felt that he needed to say and move on. I don't know. But I didn't think much of it. We still have to show up on Sunday and play the game, so it really didn't matter."
