NFL 'cares more about saving antworten

NFL 'cares more about saving some money' than the game's integrity

In his postgame press conference following his team controversial 1412 loss to the Seahawks, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers chose to be brief in his comments about replacement officials.

"It was awful," Rodgers said Monday night.

Rodgers blasted replacement officials for their incompetence and blistered the National Football League for putting revenue concerns above concerns for player safety and the integrity of the game. He dismissed the statement the league released earlier Tuesday about the game, calling it "bull." free shipping wholesale jerseys

Rodgers began his remarks with an apology.

"Some stuff just needs to be said," Rodgers said at the beginning of his show. "First of all, I got to do something that the NFL is not going to do, and I have to apologize to the fans. Our sport is generated, a multibillion dollar machine, by people who pay good money to come watch us play. The product on the field is not being complemented by an appropriate set of officials. The games are getting out of control.

"I said in the first week that I OK with replacement refs as long as they don have a direct impact on the game," Rodgers said. "Obviously last night there was a direct impact on the game on multiple plays. But my thing is I just feel bad for the fans. They pay good money to watch this. The game is being tarnished by an NFL that obviously cares more about saving some money than having the integrity of the game diminished a little bit. Let remember who we are dealing with. We dealing with an NFL that locked out the players and said we going to stand firm on our position. I don know any owner would be too upset about the deal that finally was agreed to by both sides. . . . This is an NFL that gambled on some low level referees, including the guy who makes the most important call last night, who has never had any professional experience." china nfl jerseys

Rodgers said the replacement officials are not even secondtier officials.

"These are not SEC refs who have been around NFL guys on every team, with the speed of the game," Rodgers said. "A lot of those guys are probably trying to get to the next level and are the top of the top refs. This is a multibillion dollar operation with 16 to 17 crews of seven to eight 35 to 50yearold guys who want a little insurance on the back end, want to be taken care of for the job that they do, believe that their job is an important part of that shield, the NFL brand."

Rodgers trashed the statement the NFL issued earlier Tuesday, a statement reaffirming the decisions made by the game officials and upholding the 1412 result.

Rodgers read the statement word by word to listeners, pausing on occasion to offer comment. There was zero communication between the guy who was responsible for the firstand25 phantom pass interference call on Sam Shields. The other referee was responsible for calling an offsetting personal foul against Greg Jennings for onehand pushing Brandon Browner, who had just punched him and thrown him to the ground. So those two guys have zero communication, zero eye contact. One of them is signaling over his head meaning the clock's stopped, game over, I'm about to signal touchback. on top of Golden Tate, and he's going to say that is a catch by the receiver. has the ball to his chest. . . . The association with the simultaneous rule is that who has the ball on their chest first. As the rule reads which we all probably read it at some point in the last 24 hours simultaneous possession does not exist when one person has the ball first and the other tries to put his hands on top of the ball, which is obviously what happened in that situation. Everybody saw it who saw the replay.

"But it's interesting the way the NFL words that 'When the players hit the ground in end zone the officials determined that both Tate and Jennings had possession of the ball,' " Rodgers said. " 'Under the rule for simultaneous catch, the ball belongs to Tate, the offensive player.' That's garbage, obviously. . . . They are still covering their butt here."

Rodgers said the replay clearly showed enough indisputable visual evidence to overturn the touchdown call.

"I mean, come on, (referee) Wayne (Elliott)," Rodgers said. "That's embarrassing. This is the NFL here. They're saying they should have called pass interference, but they are saying that the refs got it right in the end zone. Unbelievable." china nfl jerseys nike

Rodgers said he did not know if he was going to be fined for his remarks.

"I think there are a lot of people who have said things, or tweeted things," Rodgers said. "I mean this is just getting out of hand." wholesale jerseys

Rodgers also said he didn't know if the incident Monday night would bring about a settlement between the regular NFL referees and the league.

"We put a lot in this game," Rodgers said. "I think that is most of the frustration. We put so much into this. We put our bodies, our livelihood, on the line. You can't possibly tell me that, the ways things are going right now, player safety is being held to the same standard it was. And just the integrity of the game isn't what it was. We put a lot in this. We put our reputations in this. . . . Our families are invested in this. It's frustrating."

Please note that your public profile login will be different than your JS Everywhere login.

You can personalize your public profile with a photo.
