Despite big game cheap jerseys from Vick the Eagles lose three in a row
In the off season the Eagles were deemed to be the team to win the NFC, but they have not lived up to their potential. They have been dealing with Michael Vick not being able to finish the last couple of games.
The Eagles (1 3) hosted the San Francisco 49ers (3 1) for a Week 3 matchup that put two NFC teams against one another. The San Francisco 49ers are looking better this year under new coach Jim Harbaugh as they have now jumped out to a two game lead in the NFC West. As for the Eagles they have now loss three games in a row and dropped to the bottom of the NFC East.
The Eagles started the game with the ball and went three and out on their first possession. The 49ers took over on the ensuing drive and moved the ball 65 yards before it stalled and they were forced to kick a field goal. David Akers came on to kick a 44 yard field goal, but he missed it wide to the left.
Philly took over after the missed field goal and tried to move the ball, but Michael Vick (30/46, 416, 2 TD's, 1 Int) threw an interception on the third play of the drive. Carlos Rogers picked off the Vick pass and returned it 27 yards before being tackled. The 49ers could not capitalize on the Eagles turnover and was forced to punt the ball away.
Vick and the Eagles came back on the field and got the ball moving as they 76 yards in six plays. Jeremy Maclin (7 receptions, 74 yards) caught a 19 yard pass for a first down. Vick then hit Clay Harbor with a 16 yard touchdown pass to give the Eagles a 7 0 lead.
Alex Smith (21/33, 291 yards, 2 TD's) opened their drive with a 11 yard pass to Michael Crabtree (5 receptions, 68 yards) then later hit him with a 14 yard pass. Smith then connected with tight end Vernon Davis (4 receptions, 45 yards, 1 TD) for a 26 yard pass, but the drive then stalled again and Akers came on to kick a field goal. The Eagles got the ball moving on their ensuing drive as Vick hit DeSean Jackson (6 receptions, 171 yards) for a 45 yard gain. Vick (8 receptions, 75 yards) then scrambled for a 14 yard gain to get the ball on the 49ers side of the field. The Eagles could not get the ball moving after that, and had to settle for a 32 yard field goal from Alex Henery. Henery gave the Eagles a 10 3 lead 12:08 with left in the half.
The 49ers went three and out on the ensuing drive and were forced to punt the ball away. The Eagles had the ball and began to move the ball, and then Ronnie Brown (3 carries, 15 yards) fumbled the ball. Brown had lost the ball as he looked like he tried to pitch it or throw it, and then NaVorro Bowman recovered it for the 49er.
San Francisco could not capitalize on this turnover either as they were forced to punt after going three or out. Vick and the Eagles came back on the field and moved the ball 56 yards on the drive. The drive stalled as the Eagles lost 10 yards on a penalty to make it second and twenty. On fourth down Henery came on and made a 32 yard field goal to give the Eagles a 13 3 lead.
The 49ers got the ball and on the first play of the drive Smith was sacked by Jason Babin who forced the fumble. Cullen Jenkins recovered the ball for the Eagles and gave them decent field position. The Eagles moved the ball 23 yards on this drive and got a touchdown from LeSean McCoy. McCoy ran the ball in fro five yards out to give the Eagles a 20 3 lead going into halftime.
San Francisco started the second half with the ball and had trouble moving the ball as they were only able to move it 31 yards. They had a chance to put points on the board, but Akers had another field goal blocked.
The Eagles took over and moved the ball 25 yards on the drive with a big pass from Vick to Jackson. 's drive stalled as well and Henery came on to kick a field goal for the Eagles. Henery came on and made a 33 yard field goal to give the Eagles a 23 3 lead.
The 49ers bounced back on the ensuing drive and got their offense going. Smith hit Crabtree with a 38 yard pass and then hit Bruce Miller for his only catch for 15 yards. Smith then finished the drive by hitting Davis with a 9 yard pass that made it a 23 17 game.
Philly got the ball and tried to move it down the field to get in scoring range. Vick hit Jackson with a 61 yard pass to set them up on the 49ers side of the field. The Eagles had trouble trying to move the ball after that and had to settle for a Wholesale NFL Jerseys Henery field goal. Henery field goal went wide right and gave the 49ers the ball back.
The Eagles had the ball moving on their next drive as they went 81 yards on the drive. Vick got the offense moving as they went into shotgun formation. Vick moved them down the field as they got into field goal range. Henery came on the field to kick a 33 yard field goal, but he missed it again wide right.
The 49ers took over and Smith got them moving down the field. Frank Gore (15 carries, 127 yards 1 TD) broke a big run for 25 yards to open the drive. Kendall Hunter (9 carries, 38 yards) then broke a 14 yard run to put the 49ers on the Philly 12 yard line. Gore then ran in from 12 yards out to score his first touchdown and give them a 24 23 lead.
The Eagles had a chance to go down the field and score as Vick hit Maclin for a 33 yard pass. They drive then stalled and Vick hit Maclin again with a 17 yard pass, but he fumbled and Dashon Goldson recovered the ball for the 49ers to seal the victory and the comeback.
