Indianapolis Colts players talk about their Super Bowl loss to New Orleans Saints

Ted Jackson/The Times PicayuneIndianapolis Colts receiver Austin CollieWide receiver Austin Collie: "It's disappointing obviously. You plan on coming in here and winning the game, and the fact that we didn't get the win is a disappointment."

On not being consistent offensively: "I don't know. I don't think we played all four quarters. I don't know what to tell you."

On not being able to move the ball in the second quarter: "Obviously, it's frustrating when you're not moving the ball. Like I said, I think that we didn't do enough to win. That's the bottom line. We just didn't do enough to win."

On the Saints' play:"I think the Saints did a good job of containing the long ball and making sure they kept the ball in front of them."

"Certainly congratulations to the New Orleans Saints. They did a tremendous job, an outstanding football team that played extremely well tonight. They certainly controlled the ball on us in that second quarter. I think we only had about six plays or so. And then they did a great job obviously with the little dribble kick that they got, and they went down and scored and certainly changed the momentum of the game at that particular point in time. Heck of an effort. Our team is certainly disappointed. There's only one happy team in the National Football League at the end of the year. Obviously, that's the goal and the aim, to win it all, to win the Lombardi Trophy, and we failed at that. So they're (the Colts) proud of the way they fought all year long. They did a great job of representing our franchise, our organization. They did a tremendous job during the regular season, but you don't get any trophies for the regular season. So we're going to take our disappointment and let it fuel us a little bit and see what 2010 brings for us."

On what he saw on QB Peyton Manning's last interception:"You know, it's tough for me. I was on the far end of the field. It looked like ( Tracy) Porter made a real good play. He kind of anticipated, made a nice catch and certainly a great run after."

On the lack of the Colts' offense scoring in the second half:"Well you know, obviously, we didn't have very many opportunities. I think when you look at time of possession and that situation, they did a great job of moving the ball. And we weren't able to convert on third and one, and we dropped the third down, so that would have been a conversion. Those opportunities you just can't let slip by against a good football team."

On what happened to the Colts' offense after the first quarter: "I ertainly don't want to take anything away from them. They did a great job, a tremendous job all the way around. They mixed things up. They did a nice job of defending and we didn't execute."

On Derek Wolfe Jersey his feelings about the season:"It's disappointing because we set the mission to come out as Super Bowl champions, and we fell one game short. We just fall in the pile with the rest of the teams. We didn't finish the task. Not taking anything away from this season, we had a great season as a team. We fought adversity week in and week out. We had a great year."

On the positive defensive performance in the first half:"In the first half, the defense was clicking. We were making plays, getting off the field on third down. In the fourth quarter of the game, and in the second half, we didn't finish."

On the onside kick:"They caught us a little off guard. They were able to go down and convert, and we couldn't bounce back from it."

On coming out flat in the second half:"We typically come out in the second half and work a little bit, but we couldn't get it done this week. All the props to the Saints. They came out and got us."

On the defense being on the field for a long time:"We didn't wear out. We just didn't convert and do what we do on defense. We could have done a lot better. We left some stuff on the field."

On the emotional impact of the onside kick:"We had to come out, and we had to stop them. Just because they did it didn't mean they have to score, but they went down and scored."

On QB Drew Brees throwing quick passes:"We knew they were capable of throwing that short pass and keeping the chains moving, and we just had to respond."

On the play of DE Dwight Freeney: "I was proud of him. He stepped up. He has a lot of heart. To be able to come back from that in two weeks time speaks a lot about his character."

On whether DE Dwight Freeney's ankle was bothering him in the second half: "When the game is on the line, you have to suck it up and that is what he did."

On why the defense struggled in the second half: "We had to get off the field. We couldn't get off the field. They kept us on the field, so that is what happens Britton Colquitt Jersey when you can't get to them."

On his emotions after the game: "To get all the way here, and then fall short, that is very frustrating, but we can't hang our heads. We have got to keep our heads up."

On what the Saints offense did to have success: "They were able to protect their quarterback. With short passes they did a good job and were able to keep the chains moving."
